This amazing E Type coupe was manufactured on the 29th of January 1968 and was dispatched to Henlys, London on the 16th of February 1968. The colours that the car is presented in today are the exact colours that the car left the factory – Dark blue with grey interior. The history of the car in the UK is unknown as is exactly when the car made it’s way to our shores, but it certainly had a challenging life before the current owner purchased it as a car needing a major restoration.

Concours Sportscar Restoration was commissioned to restore the car and to incorporate a host of their tried and proven upgrades and modifications to make the car. The body was the first challenge, requiring major restoration. New floors, inner and outer sills and a new bonnet were all required whilst the entire bodyshell was rebuilt on the alignment jig. Upgraded front frames and upgraded gearbox mount area for the use of the 5 speed transmission were included before the beautiful Glasurit dark blue two pack paint was applied.

Mechanically, the original 4.2 litre engine was upgraded with larger inlet valves and mild camshafts, unleaded compatible components ready for the triple 45DCOE webers and glorious stainless steel extractors to be added, resulting in an engine that is designed to deliver a useful increase in torque right where it is needed. Upgrading the ignition system, charging system, cooling system and a Classic Fabs long extractor and big bore exhaust system were all taken care of and a 5 speed transmission is fitted. The brakes are substantially upgraded as is the suspension and finally one inch wider than standard chrome wire wheels fitted and shod with Avon CR6ZZ tyres.

The interior has been masterfully restored by the team at Stitched Up trim. The grey Connolly  leather pairs beautifully with the dark blue paintwork and the traditional chrome fixtures that abound in an E Type interior.

No stone was left unturned in this restoration, the standard of workmanship and the quality of the result is world class. Coupled with the upgrades aimed squarely at the owner who wants to drive their E Type with some gusto, just as they were designed to be, this represents a rare opportunity to purchase a vehicle that is ready to enjoy immediately.
