Verified by the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, the car was dispatched on the 4th of April, 1962 to Henleys, London, chassis 860382 is an original right hand drive 3.8 E Type coupe and was finished in Opalescant Bronze with Beige interior. Being an April 1962 car, it features a lot of the early desirable features such as a flat rear bulkhead behind the seats, early steering wheel and the alloy dash and console facias.

There is an extensive folder of receipts with the car verifying ownership history and repairs carried out back as far as 1971.

1971 – 1976 – In November 1971 the car was purchased by Mr Chris Lloyd of Newport (NSW) from car dealer Brian R. Woo for the sum of $3650 and was registered EXK001. In 1972 the colour of the car was still the opalescent bronze and the speedometer was noted to be showing 77543 miles. He had the engine rebuilt in 1975 by Compact Repair Centre in Mona Vale and other repairs were carried out during his ownership.

1976 – 2014 – The car was purchased in April 1976 by Jim Redman, who runs A.B.L.E Classic Wedding Cars in Sydney and owned it for 38 years. Early on in his ownership he had the colour of the car changed from the Opalescant Bronze to white, maybe in keeping with his wedding car business. In 1984 the speedometer is noted as reading 86793 miles and as noted by the then owner “the car was taken off the road in 1984 and was restored from end to end”. He had the engine rebuilt in 1994 by Jaguar specialists, Paradise Garage. At this time the front of car was dismantled to the firewall and the firewall and frames painted white to match the exterior. Further notes from the then owner when offering the car for sale: “The car was re registered in 2013 after being off the road since 1984. Selling car because I just had a total knee replacement and it doesn’t bend like it used to and I guess I’m becoming a senior citizen!”

2014 – 2024 – Current owner. After being enjoyed by the current owner for 10 years, the car came to Concours Sportscar Restoration in late 2023 for recommissioning after an extended lay up due to a failed fuel pump. An extensive mechanical recommission including restored carburetors, new stainless exhaust system, cooling system overhaul, brake system overhaul, new splined hubs and new tyres. Inside the car new alloy dash facias were installed along with retrimming of the console and the door trims. The car is now fully sorted on the road, dyno tuned and wheel aligned.

The car has travelled a mere 477 miles since 1984 and only 9727 since 1972!

The current owner has unfortunately suffered some health issues and has made the very difficult decision to offer the car for sale.

This E Type represents a great opportunity to acquire an early original right hand drive, matching numbers fixed head coupe that is mechanically sorted and ready to enjoy with the scope to progressively improve and enhance cosmetically over time. Included is the extensive history file, a rare Shelley bottle jack, original workshop manual and spare parts catalogue and handbook.
