1972 Jaguar E Type 2+2 Coupe Series 3 V12 5.3 litre Manual
Beautifully restored, original RHD example of the more desirable of the 2+2 coupe, being the series 3 E type. Finished in its very rare original factory lavender blue colour as certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. Less than a handful of Jaguars left the factory in this colour, and it is the only such one in Australia. Furthermore it is fitted with a six speed GTJ Jaguar High Performance competition close ratio manual gear box, which provides greater performance, improved fuel economy and absolute driving pleasure.
In the five years of current ownership, over $51,000 has been spent on service and restoration works which have included a back to bare metal re-spray, all new rubber seals, a new tuned stainless steel exhaust system from Classicfabs in the UK, brake system refurbished including brake lines and new brake master cylinders (plus practical brake bleed kit upgrade). The fuel system has been refurbished including new flexible fuel lines, new fuel pump, all four carburettors overhauled, adjusted, and dyno tuned. Ignition system refurbished including new high tension leads and ignition coil. Rear suspension overhauled including new shock absorbers, new driveshaft universal joints, and new hub bearings.
New carpet floor mats installed which is the only non-original interior items. The headlining, leather and vinyl trim are all in very good original condition. There are no oil leaks and the engine is as tight as a drum having been professionally rebuilt in the past (all receipts available). All recent servicing, repair, and restoration works carried out by Concours Sportscar Restoration (the Jaguar and Aston Martin specialists).
This is truly one E Type that is rust free, mechanically A1, is beautiful to look at, handles and drives as a modern car with power steering and power assisted breaks being standard on the Series 3. All E Types are beautiful as attested by the comments, waves from other motorists and the requests for photographs that this car generates; but it is the feel behind the wheel of driving something very special and enjoyable, along with the evocative howl from the stainless steel exhaust, that make this car just so desirable.
This is a driver’s car with all the restoration and mechanical works done, nothing more to do other than to drive and enjoy.
